Best of Both Worlds

This is an ideal location for group’s who want to tailor their holidays to include a selection of different skiing or boarding experiences in Winter and a wide range of outdoor activities in Summer - Combine the high octane life of two large ski resorts with the calm and quiet of La Danchère.

The Seasons

Winter
Downhill Alpine skiing, snow boarding, off-piste skiing, cross-country skiing, ice climbing, ice skating, snow-shoe expeditions… …

Spring
Ski-touring in the Parc National des Ecrins; Tai Chi Ch’uan amidst the Alpine flowers; and Reiki.

Summer
Spoilt for choice : Road and mountain biking, rafting, canoeing, fishing, alpine routes, rock climbing, via ferrata and masses of walking. La Danchère is a staging post on the Tour d’Oisans. From Bourg d’Oisans there is riding and Les 2 Alpes and Alpe d’Huez offer swimming pools, golf, tennis, adventure parks, paragliding and bungee jumping… …. or why not just enjoy the garden at La Danchère.

Autumn
It’s almost as beautiful as in June. Most Summer activities can be continued until the first heavy snowfalls…and afterwards there is still room for business or coaching workshops, team building sessions and meditation groups!

Risks

Risks, mountain guides and leaders

We believe that “how you take your risk” is your own affair. Off-piste skiing, ski-touring, climbing and river and other activities described on this site can be hazardous. Over the years we have taken enormous pleasure from our adventures in the mountains but occasionally we have been more than foolish and extremely lucky to get away with it. In particular at the outset you clearly need to be accompanied by qualified guides or instructors. They will add to your security and to the quality of the experience. The advice below from Edward Whymper is apposite:

“Climb you do, but remember that courage and strength are nought without prudence, and that a momentary negligence may destroy the happiness of a lifetime. Do nothing in haste: look well to each step; and from the beginning think what may be the end.” Edward Whymper
