Gite Le Lauvitel

The time you spend here is a “time between times”. This is a gateway - the wardrobe in the Narnia stories or Rivendell in the Lord of the Rings. Here you can enjoy the transition from one world to another. As you begin your holiday, share the anticipation of days in the hills and, when it is time to leave, at least for an evening, you will be with people who understand that “far-away look” in your eyes.

Accommodation

The property comprises 3 chalet apartments in a rustic old alpine farm house.
These “Gîtes” interconnect and can be rented together or independently:

Main Gîte “Khumbu”
14 beds in 5 bedrooms

Gîte rural “Dauphiné"
11 - 13 beds in 5 bedrooms

Gîte rural “Snowdonia”

International Cooking

We give great care and loving attention to the preparation of all your meals, ensuring that they are both enjoyable, healthy and stimulating. We offer full or half board in Khumbu as well as the option of packed lunches. Clients in Snowdonia or Dauphiné may also benefit from the delicious food prepared in the main kitchen by prior arrangement.

Lunch and dinner (by reservation) at the Gîte is also available to anyone visiting La Danchère, Venosc. We have an attractive garden in the heart of the hamlet with spectacular views of the mountains in which we serve bears, soft drinks, ice-creams, cakes and bilberry tarts.

What to expect

You will be warmly welcomed into the comfortable and homely accommodations by Caroline Purkhardt. The entrance hall and sitting-room are light and spacious and upstairs you will find the bedrooms authentic and cosy in style.

The Gîte caters for all types – families taking their first holiday in the mountains, walkers or climbers eager to reach the mountain peaks and those searching for the tranquillity and restfulness of green forests, alpine meadows, mountain streams and clear air.

“La Bérade, too, had a magic quality all its own, the minute chapel and the sparsely scattered silver birches bordering the turbulent Vénéon. It was here that I became aware of the immense timelessness of mountain places; and also of the great stillness somehow accentuated by the ceaseless undertone of rushing water.” Nea Morin on a first independent trip to the Alps (1925)
